Women's 12 Step Community
Turnbridge incorporates the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous into our curriculum. Experience teaches us that regularly working the 12 Steps is an effective method of remaining in recovery, establishes a healthy sober routine, and forms bonds with one’s local recovery community. As women come to rely on themselves more, they begin to arrange their own rides to and from 12- Step meetings.
Young women at Turnbridge receive special counseling in safely navigating their local 12-Step programs and finding an appropriate sponsor.
In addition to helping women find safe and productive belonging within 12-Step culture, we also bring female clients to women-only group meetings. Gender-specific groups are more comfortable for many women. Women-only groups also allow women to reset their expectations of relating with other women. For many, witnessing women selflessly supporting other women of shared experience rebuilds the ability to trust openly, and resets their expectations of relationships.
